Deputies arrest 35-year-old Latesha Smith for Arson

LOCATION: 2400 Block of Needles Highway
SUSPECT: Latesha Smith, 35 years old, resident of Eastover, South Carolina
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, January 5, 2019 at approximately 4:58 a.m., deputies from the Needles Police and Sheriff’s Department responded to the 2400 block of Needles Highway reference an arson. While enroute to the location, deputies were advised a female subject had started a fire then assaulted staff. The female, identified as Latesha Smith, left the location as deputies arrived. Smith was contacted near the Best Western where she was taken into custody without incident.
Smith was taken into custody and booked for Arson and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Due to medical reasons, Smith had to be transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where she is being held on $250,000.00 bail, pending a court hearing.
