A deputy and his K9 partner conduct a traffic stop and arrest several subjects for numerous criminal violations

LOCATION: 8500 block of Vineyard Avenue

SUSPECT: Steven Allen Brown, 44-years-old from Rancho Cucamonga
Rodney Juarez, 47-years-old from Upland
Julie Pena, 36-years-old from Upland

SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, January 3, 2019 at approximately 1:52 p.m., Deputy Derek Pedersen and K9 Smokey attempted a double traffic stop of two vehicles driving in tandem for vehicle code violations. During the traffic stop, motorcyclist Steven Brown, fled on foot and was located shortly after. The two suspects of the vehicle, Rodney Juarez and Julie Pena remained at the scene and were detained by responding deputies.

During a search of Brown’s motorcycle, methamphetamine and a stolen, loaded handgun were found. Brown was found to have a no-bail felony warrant for his arrest. During a search of the vehicle occupied by Juarez and Pena, K9 Smokey indicated a hit for drugs in the center console. Deputies located methamphetamine and a pair of brass knuckles. Through investigation, Pena was found to be currently on Felony Probation. The three suspects were arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for the above-mentioned felony charges.
