Malik Spencer, 18, of Lobeco, who was last seen on Tuesday, December 18, remains missing. On Friday, December 21, Malik's vehicle was found abandoned near a rural residential area on St. Helena Island.
Following the discovery of his vehicle, Sheriff's Office personnel—accompanied by patrol K-9 units and the Bloodhound Team—conducted an extensive search of that area, but did not locate Malik. Malik's vehicle was processed for forensic evidence and items have been submitted to the Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Laboratory for analysis.
Sheriff's Office investigators continue to follow up on information about the possible whereabouts of Malik Spencer and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Information obtained by investigators up to this point, leads them to suspect that foul play is involved in Malik's disappearance.
Malik Spencer's family and the Sheriff's Office remain extremely concerned for his well-being and are asking for information from the public. Anyone with information regarding Malik's whereabouts is urged to contact investigator Brian Abell at 843-255-3436 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC to remain anonymous and for possible reward.

Recent Shootings in Burton and Grays Hill

- December 22, 2018: Shooting incident at "The Tunnel" on Bruce K. Smalls Drive in Grays Hill in which three men were wounded
- December 22, 2018: 41-year-old Lamar Johnson found shot to death on the side of Billy Hill Road in Burton
- December 26, 2018: Shooting incident on St. Pauls Church Road in Burton in which one man was wounded. Progress is being made in the investigation
- December 29, 2018: Shooting incident on Bonaire Circle in Burton in which one man was wounded. Progress is being made in the investigation
- December 30, 2018: Shooting incident on Paradise Lane in Grays Hill in which a residence was struck by bullets
- December 31, 2018: Shooting incident on Milledge Village Road in Burton in which a vehicle was struck by bullets
- December 31, 2018: Shooting incident on Milledge Village Road in Burton in which two residences were struck by bullets
