Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of December 23 - 29, 2018

Dear Duarte Community;

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of December 23, 2018, thru December 29, 2018
 

December 23, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult female from Pasadena was observed concealing baby formula, two cameras and three shirts in her purse.  The suspect exited the store without paying for the merchandise and was detained by store security.  Upon arrival of deputies, the suspect admitted to stealing the items even though she had cash, credit cards and gift cards in her purse.  
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult female from Pasadena entered the store with her husband.  Once inside, she selected various items and proceeded to a checkout line.  Once the items were scanned and placed in a shopping bag, the suspect walked out with the merchandise without paying and was detained by store security.  Upon arrival of responding deputies, the suspect stated she saw her husband insert a credit card and thought he had paid for the items that totaled just over $362. After further investigation, it was determined the husband did insert a credit card, however, canceled the transaction and exited the store himself.  The suspect was arrested for Petty Theft.
 
December 24, 20181
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Delford Avenue.  Sometime during the night, person’s unknown shattered the rear driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a back pack containing miscellaneous clothing items.  
 
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 1500 block of Broadland Avenue.  Sometime during the night, person’s unknown shattered the rear driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole three jackets. 
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult female from Covina was observed selecting a tent from the sporting goods department.  The suspect then made her way to customer service, where she attempted to return the item, but was denied.  The suspect then attempted to leave the store with the tent, but was detained by store security.  Upon arrival of responding deputies, the suspect admitted to stealing the tent because she was homeless.  The suspect was arrested for shoplifting.
 
December 25, 2018
  • No significant activity.         
 
 
 
 
December 26, 2018
  • A Grand Theft was reported at 2249 Huntington Drive (Mobil Gas Station). While pumping gas, the victim’s purse was stolen from the front seat of her vehicle.  The purse contained $300 in cash, credit cards and gift cards.  The suspect’s immediately used the stolen credit cards at Best Buy, Walmart and T-Mobile, all in Duarte. 
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult male from San Dimas selected $205 worth of miscellaneous merchandise and proceeded to a register.  The merchandise was scanned and placed in a shopping bag. However, the suspect fled with the merchandise without paying and was detained by store security.  The suspect was arrested for shoplifting by responding deputies.  
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported in the 2500 block of Gardi Street.  A key fob to the victim’s company vehicle and $10 in cash were stolen from the center console of his unlocked vehicle.  Video surveillance may have possibly captured the incident. The investigation is on-going. 
   
December 27, 2018
  • No significant activity.        
 
December 28, 2018
  • An Assault with a Deadly Weapon was reported in the 2000 block of Ivory Drive. During a domestic dispute, the victim attempted to leave in her vehicle, when the suspect threw a rock at her windshield.  The victim unconsciously reacted in defense by covering her face and stepped on the gas pedal, striking the suspect.  The suspect immediately got up and ran in the house.  The victim drove off, but immediately returned as deputies arrived. As deputies arrived, the suspect fled the scene.  The investigation is on-going.      
 
December 29, 2018
  • A Grand Theft was reported at 1500 Duarte Road (City of Hope).  The victim stated that between 9:00 am and 11:30 am, person’s unknown stole her “Prada Purse and Wallet” from her office which had mistakenly been left unlocked.  The loss was estimated at approximately $1,100.
