Advisory

3rd PCT COMMANDING OFFICER, JOHN M. ROWAN, ISSUES ADVISORY TO RESIDENTS TO SAFEGUARD THEMSELVES AGAINST CAR THEFTS.

Hello, Neighbors.  Since December 27 we have had 6 vehicles reported stolen in Central Islip, Brentwood, North Bay Shore, and Islip.  All of these vehicles were left running either outside a private residence or a commercial establishment.  While I understand in the cold weather it may be convenient to leave a vehicle running while you run in to get your morning coffee, these crimes are totally preventable.  In addition, it is a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1210 (Unattended Motor Vehicle) – to leave a vehicle running unattended.  Protect your property – don’t leave your car running and don’t leave the keys in the vehicle.  Please share this and let’s prevent this crime from happening to you and your friends.
