Advisory

REMINDER - LOCK YOUR CAR AND SECURE YOUR BELONGINGS

The Albany police has received reports of items being stolen from vehicles. In almost all of the cases, the vehicles were unlocked with valuables inside.

The Albany Police Department would like to remind the members of our community about the following crime prevention tips related to theft from motor vehicles.

Always remove your valuables. Valuables in plain view make the vehicle an easy target for thieves.

Always place cell phone chargers in a place where they can’t be seen. Visible cell phone chargers may tempt a thief to break into your car and look for the cell phone.

Never leave your GPS device on the windshield or dashboard unattended. Always place your GPS chargers and mount in a secure hidden place when not being used. Although the GPS may not be in the vehicle, a thief may be tempted to break into your car if they see GPS equipment.

Always lock your vehicle when parked unattended.

Always try to park your vehicle in a well lit area at night.

If you see someone who may be checking or breaking into a vehicle, contact the Albany Police by calling (518) 438-4000.
