A minor injury traffic collision occurred on Bear Valley near Dunia Rd involving a deputy in a marked patrol vehicle

INCIDENT: Minor Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road, Victorville
SUMMARY: On December 29, 2018, a deputy with the Victorville Police Department was involved in a minor injury traffic collision, while in route to a call for service involving a man with a gun.
The deputy was traveling eastbound in a marked patrol vehicle on Bear Valley Road. As the deputy approached Dunia Road, the driver of a 2013 Kia Soul made a right turn from Dunia onto Bear Valley. As the driver of the Kia began his travel eastbound on Bear Valley Road, he continued traveling across the lanes of traffic and into the path of the deputy. The unsafe lane change resulted in the vehicles colliding into each other, causing major damage to both.
As a result of the collision, the deputy had minor pain and did not require treatment at the scene. The driver of the Kia sustained a minor laceration to his hand. He was treated at the scene by personnel from American Medical Response and declined further treatment.
