A Flood Advisory is in effect for McDowell County until 1:45 pm. Flooding is being reported across McDowell.
The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

Southeastern McDowell County in western North Carolina...
Western Burke County in western North Carolina...
* Until 145 PM EST.
* At 1008 AM EST, emergency management reported small creeks had
risen out of their banks across northern McDowell County,
including Thompson's Fork at Roland Chapel Road near Nebo. 1 to 4
inches of rain have fallen across the foothills since 10 PM
Thursday. Rises are likely to continue across the Upper Catawba
and its tributaries as 1 to 2 inches of additional rainfall occurs
today. Additional roadway flooding is likely to develop at low
water crossings across eastern McDowell and western Burke
counties. Lake James is also likely to rise rapidly with continued
runoff upstream.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Morganton, Marion, Glen Alpine, Lake James, Table Rock, Nebo,
Glenwood, Sugar Hill and Fero.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Heavy rainfall will cause rapid rises on small creeks and streams,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Sudden increases
in water flow are also possible downstream. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Turn around, don't drown. People participating
in outdoor recreation should move away from creeks and small streams.

landslides flowing over roads or threatening property to the National
Weather Service by calling toll-free, 1-800-267-8101, by
posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP.

names, and other landmarks.
