SUMMARY: On December 19, 2018, at approximately 1:30 pm, Deputy Mavil Padilla and Deputy John Gice were dispatched to a report of a vehicle burglary in the 13000 block of Anchor Dr in Spring Valley Lake, and a report was taken.

On December 25, 2018, the victim of the burglary found an ad listing the victim’s stolen property and arranged to meet the seller. The suspect had listed the items for sale on the popular app. The victim also notified Deputies Padilla and Gice of the items listed for sale, and they responded to the area where the parties were to meet.

A vehicle matching the description of the seller’s vehicle was located near the Wells Fargo Bank on Roy Rogers Drive near Amargosa Road in the City of Victorville. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, a Toyota Matrix. However the driver did not comply. The driver fled the area, along with three other occupants of the vehicle, and attempted to evade deputies. The vehicle crashed approximately 6 miles later when it ran into a dirt field at the end of a roadway in the City of Adelanto. During the pursuit, suspects were throwing items out of the vehicle. These items were recovered and were found to be items stolen in the original vehicle burglary.

All four suspects were taken into custody and were booked into the High Desert Detention Center. Bradly Buse, the driver of the vehicle, was booked on charges of transportation of a controlled substance and evading a peace officer. Buse is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Leo Cobos, Riki Curtis, and Robert Hysell were all passengers in the vehicle. Leo Cobos and Riki Curtis were booked on charges of burglary, theft by use of access card and obstructing a police officer. Cobos is currently being held without bail for violation of his parole terms, and Curtis is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. Hysell was booked on charges of obstructing a police officer and was released on a citation to appear in court at a later date.
