Flood Warning until 10:25AM Sunday

French Broad River At Blantyre affecting Henderson and Transylvania Counties Storm-total rainfall of 2-3 inches through Friday across the upper French Broad River watershed on top of saturated soils will cause significant rises to occur along the upper French Broad River and associated tributaries. Minor flooding, defined as flooding of adjacent low-lying areas including farmland, parks, wetlands, and boat-access ramps, is expected. Therefore, a Flood Warning has been issued for the upper French Broad River near Blantyre. Remember, river stage forecasts are based on observed and forecasted rainfall. If actual rainfall varies from the forecast values, the river stage will vary accordingly. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Warning for the French Broad River At Blantyre.

* from Friday evening to Sunday morning, or until the warning is canceled.

* At 3:30 PM Thursday the stage was 10.5 feet and falling slowly.

* Minor Flood Stage is 16.0 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Forecast...rise above Minor Flood Stage by Friday evening and continue to rise to near 18.0 feet by Saturday morning. The river will fall below Minor Flood Stage by early Sunday morning.

* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Minor Flooding continues. Widespread farmland flooding between the French Broad River and the railroad tracks is ongoing. Boat access ramps along the French Broad River are inundated with up to 2 feet of water. The intersection of River Rd. and Big Willow Rd. is inundated with several inches of water.

* AFFECTED AREAS: TRANSYLVANIA, NC ... HENDERSON, NC
