Advisory

Wilmington Police is asking for public's help in identifying subject impersonating as an animal control officer

On Sunday, December 23, at approximately 11:15 pm, Wilmington Police responded to 18th and N. Market Street for a report of a pitbull attacking another dog.

Upon the officer's arrival they made contact with a community member who advised officers that while he was walking his three dogs a loose pitbull made contact with his dogs and began attacking them.

The 65-year old man made every attempt to stop the attack, however, one of his dogs succumbed to its injuries.  The other two dogs ran off with their leashes attached to them.

The community member dialed 911 and shortly thereafter, two men and a woman responded to his location claiming to be from animal control.  The pictured subject took possession of the pitbull and fled without obtaining any information.

The Wilmington Department of Police is asking for the public's help in identifying this man.  If anyone has any information regarding the identify of the pictured subject please contact the Wilmington Department of Police at (302) 654-5151, or dial 911.

In addition, if anyone makes contact with the pictured lost puppy please dial 911 or call Delaware Animal Services at (302) 255-4646.
