Advisory

Flood Watch in effect starting Thursday 7:00 PM until Sat. 7:00 AM for McDowell County.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY
MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a

* Flood Watch for McDowell County from Thursday evening through Saturday morning.

* Periods of moderate to heavy rain will lead to excessive runoff
in many areas. Some creeks and streams will leave their banks
and flood low water crossings. This is especially true near
south-facing mountain ridges such as the Blue Ridge Escarpment,
but may occur in any part of the region. In urban areas, street
flooding is especially possible, affecting homes and businesses
and impeding travel. Already swollen lakes are likely to remain
at abnormally high levels heading into the weekend.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
