Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team investigates a fatal motorcycle collision

INCIDENT: Felony Evading/ Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Kiowa Road at intersection with Yucca Loma Road
SUSPECT: Pending identification
SUMMARY:
On December 22, 2018, at approximately 9:06 P.M., an Apple Valley deputy witnessed a motorcycle north bound on Kiowa Road at a high rate of speed in the Town of Apple Valley. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the motorcycle and the rider failed to yield. The rider, who has not been identified, accelerated away traveling north on Kiowa Road and failed to stop for posted stop signs at Sitting Bull Road, Ottawa Road and Yucca Loma Road. The rider lost control of the motorcycle near the intersection of Kiowa Road and Yucca Loma Road and struck a tree. Medical aid was summoned to the scene, but despite lifesaving attempts the rider succumbed to his injuries.
The riders name is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin.
The High Desert Region Major Accident Investigation Team, M.A.I.T. assumed the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the pursuit, or the traffic collision is urged to call sheriff’s dispatch.
