The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

December 7th
0901 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 21-year-old female out of Newark for her outstanding arrest warrant. She was booked into Fremont Jail.

1030 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 27-year-old female out of Fremont for providing a false name to a peace officer, violating the terms of her probation, and for his two outstanding arrest warrants. She was booked into Fremont Jail.

1213 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 35-year-old male out of Newark for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1220 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 45-year-old male out of Newark for violating the terms of a restraining order. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1723 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 55-year-old male out of Newark for possessing drug paraphernalia and for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

2006 Hours: Officers responded to the 2000 block of Newpark Mall Road to investigate a burglary from a business and a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window which resulted in an unknown loss.

2354 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 32-year-old female out of Newark for DUI. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.


December 8th
1202 Hours: Officer Hunter responded to the 5600 block of Mowry Ave. and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window to steal a briefcase and laptop.

1632 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to a business in the 5800 block of Jarvis Ave. and investigated a theft.


December 9th
0007 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance and arrested a 28-year-old male out of San Jose for domestic battery. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1327 Hours: Officer Hunter responded to a business in the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue and investigated a theft of power tools that had occurred on December 7th. The suspect vehicle was described as a red Toyota Camry.

1509 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 46-year-old male out of Newark for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was cited and released.

2129 Hours: Officer Rivas responded to the 5000 block of Smith Avenue and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window to steal a cell phone.


December 10th
0207 Hours: Officers investigated an attempted theft from a business in the 5800 block of Stevenson Boulevard.

1108 Hours: An Officer responded to the 37300 block of Birch Street and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle sometime over the weekend to steal a leaf blower.

1229 Hours: An Officer responded to the 6000 block of Cedar Boulevard and investigated a theft of license plates from a 2004 Infiniti.

1347 Hours: Officers responded to 35000 block of Orleans Drive for a reported restraining order violation. A 36-year-old male out of Newark was contacted and arrested for the restraining order violation, possession of drug paraphernalia and for violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

2033 Hours: Officer Swadener responded to the 1200 block of Newpark Mall Road and investigated a petty theft from a business.

2110 Hours: Officers responded to the 6200 block of Jarvis Avenue and investigated two separate burglaries from vehicles during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicles by shattering windows to steal laptops, a briefcase and a backpack.

2339 Hours: Officers responded to a business in the 35100 block of Newark Boulevard and alleviated a disturbance. Incident documented.


December 11th
1025 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a commercial burglary in the 39000 block of Balentine Drive. The suspect(s) gained access into the locked business by shattering the front glass door sometime overnight. Unknown loss at the time.

1041 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a theft from a business in the 5800 block of Jarvis Avenue. Sometime between December 9th and 10th, unknown suspect(s) defeated the lock on the storage cage and stole several propane tanks.

1517 Hours: Officer Herrera responded to the 6300 block of Thornton Avenue for a reported battery. Prosecution was declined by the victim and the incident was documented.

1901 to 2006 Hours: Officers responded to the 5700 block of Stevenson Boulevard and 39000 block of Balentine Drive and investigated three burglaries from vehicles during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicles by shattering windows to steal backpacks containing a Kindle, laptops and an iPad. One witness described a suspect vehicle as a matte grey Mercedes.


December 12th
0128 hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 21-year-old female out of Newark for her outstanding arrest warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1522 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 39-year-old male out of Newark for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was cited and released.

2029 hours: Officers responded to a business in the 2000 block of Newpark Mall Road to assist loss prevention agents with an arrest of four subjects after they used burglary tools to defeat sensors and steal clothing. Three 21-year-old females and an 18-year-old female, all out of San Francisco, were arrested for theft and possession of burglary tools. They were booked into Santa Rita Jail.


December 13th
0042 Hours: Officer D. Johnson responded to the 6000 block of Tourraine Drive for a reported disturbance, ultimately arresting a 32-year-old female out of Newark for her outstanding arrest warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1412 Hours: Officer Pacheco responded to the 37400 block of Sycamore Street and investigated the theft of a green Carson flatbed trailer that was taken sometime overnight.

2309 Hours: Officers responded to 36000 block of Colbert Street for a reported battery in progress. Prosecution was declined by the victim and the incident was documented.

2309 Hours: While responding to the above battery call, Officer Slavazza contacted two of the involved parties, ultimately arresting one, a 28-year-old female out of Newark for DUI. She was booked into Fremont Jail.


December 14th
0209 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 29-year-old male out of Hayward for DUI. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

0319 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 22-year-old male out of Newark for DUI. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

0629 Hours: Officer Rivera responded to the 6000 block of Thornton Avenue and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window sometime overnight.

0820 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an attempted overnight theft from a business in the 6900 block of Thornton Avenue.

0913 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 47-year-old male out of Newark for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released.

1621 Hours: Officer Hernandez contacted and arrested a 38-year-old transient male for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

2239 Hours: While working a heightened DUI Enforcement Patrol, Officers Piquette and Slavazza contacted a 43-year-old female out of Oakland and arrested her for DUI. She was ultimately cited and released.

2249 Hours: While working a heightened DUI Enforcement Patrol, Detectives Arroyo and Musantry contacted a 40-year-old male out of Alameda and arrested him for DUI as well as an outstanding warrant. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

2103 Hours: Officers responded to the area of Jarvis Avenue and Spruce Street on a report of a single vehicle accident into a light pole. Officers found an unoccupied vehicle at the scene. It was later learned that the vehicle had been stolen out of another jurisdiction.


December 15th
0217 Hours: Officers responded to the area of Jarvis Avenue and Haley Street for a report of man down and found an inebriated subject on the ground. The 27-year-old male out of Newark was ultimately arrested for being too inebriated to care for himself or others and for resisting, delaying, obstructing officers. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1521 Hours: Officer Horst responded to the 39000 block of Cedar Blvd. and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window.


December 16th
1437 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 36-year-old transient female for her outstanding arrest warrant. She was booked into Fremont Jail.


December 17th
0453 Hours: Officer Lenz arrested a 61-year-old male out of Newark for domestic battery. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

0757 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a commercial burglary in the 36000 block of Newark Boulevard. Entry was gained by shattering the front glass door overnight.

1319 Hours: Officer D. Johnson responded to the 5600 block of Mowry School Road and investigated a burglary form a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into a locked vehicle by shattering a window to steal a Coach purse.

1650 Hours: Officer Hernandez responded to investigate a disturbance and ultimately arrested a 47-year-old male out of Newark for brandishing a knife, threats with intent to terrorize and violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.


December 18th
0814 Hours: Officer Herrera responded to the 7600 block of Gateway Boulevard and investigated the overnight theft of a white Chevy Express G2500.

1400 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested 25-year-old male out of Fremont for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license, and violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

2024 to 2113 Hours: Officers responded to the 5800 block of Mowry Avenue and investigated two burglaries from vehicles during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicles by shattering out windows to steal backpacks and laptops.
