SUMMARY: On December 9, 2018, at 10:00 pm, investigators from the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force responded to the City of San Bernardino to assist police officers who had located and detained a young female, believed to be a minor and possibly involved in prostitution. Task Force investigators met with the officer and female at the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Central Station and found the female to be a 15-year-old runaway from the City of Redlands. During contact with the officer, investigators learned the juvenile had been located near the intersection of 8th and G St. in the downtown area of San Bernardino. That location falls within the boundaries of a specific area within the City of San Bernardino, known for its high volume of Prostitution. During their interview with the juvenile, Task Force investigators established her to be actively involved in prostitution and a victim of the commercial sex industry.  At the time of the interview, the victim was reluctant to provide investigators with any information related to the identity of her trafficker(s). The victim was rescued, provided access to services and safely released into the custody of Child and Family Services. Task Force members continued their investigation to identify the 15-year-old victim's trafficker(s).

On December 18, 2018, investigators located an online ad which depicted the victim for the solicitation of prostitution. Task Force investigators initiated an undercover operation, arranging a meeting with the victim through the advertisement, and were directed to a motel located in the 10000 block of Magnolia Ave. in the City of Riverside. Task force members responded to the location and began surveillance of the motel. During that time, the victim and an unidentified female, later identified as suspect #2-Latrice Potts, were seen at a nearby convenience store where they were contacted and detained. Through continued investigation, Task Force members were able to identify the room at the motel where the victim and Potts were staying and using for prostitution. During continued surveillance of the motel room, investigators saw an unidentified adult male leave the room and walk toward the front of the motel. Investigators contacted the male and identified him as Gregory Todd. Todd was detained along with the victim and Latrice Potts for further investigation. Todd and Potts were transported back to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Central Station for additional interview. The victim was transported by ambulance from the motel to a local hospital for an unknown medical condition and complaint of pain. She was treated and safely released several hours later, back into the custody of Child and Family Services.

During the investigation, Task Force members found evidence linking both suspects to the ongoing Prostitution and Trafficking of the juvenile victim in both Riverside and San Bernardino counties.  As a result of this investigation, Todd and Potts were booked at San Bernardino Central Detention Center for Felony Pimping, Pandering and Human Trafficking of a Minor. Both are being held with bail set at $150,000 each.
