Southwestern McDowell County in western North Carolina...
* Until 100 PM EST.
* At 959 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated a final round of heavy rain
showers poised to cross southwestern McDowell County through late
morning. These showers were producing rainfall at rates of one-
half to one inch per hour, and were impacting locations that have
already received widespread two to three inch rainfall totals over
the past 24 hours. Minor flooding of streams, creeks, and low-
lying or poor drainage areas will result.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Marion, Old Fort, Sugar Hill, Pleasant Gardens, Glenwood, Fero,
Thermal City, Blue Ridge Parkway-Craggy To Little Switzerland and
Montreat. Flooding is most likely along Mill Creek and Newberry
Creek in the western part of the County, as well as locations
around Cove Creek in Sugar Hill.
