South Fork Catawba River At Lowell affecting Gaston County Heavy rain moving across the area has saturated the ground and caused river levels to rise. Additional rainfall will likely cause the river to crest just below flood stage. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for The South Fork Catawba River At Lowell.

* until Friday morning.

* At 09 PM Thursday the stage was 8.1 feet.

* Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet.

* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

* Forecast...the river will rise to near 9.9 feet by early Friday afternoon. IMPACTS: At 9.0 feet...Action Stage. South Fork Catawba River floodwaters begin to enter Riverside Park in Cramerton..

* AFFECTED AREAS: GASTON, NC
