OSBI Investigates Noble Police Department Officer Involved Shooting

On December 18, 2018, at 4:30 PM, the Noble Police Department Chief of Police requested the OSBI investigative and crime scene services for an officer involved shooting. Earlier that same day, a Noble Police Officer made a traffic stop on a motorcycle with two men on it. During the traffic stop, Layland Lewis, Jr. (DOB: 12/30/80) of Norman, Oklahoma, brandished a firearm at the police officer. Lewis refused to follow the officer’s commands. The officer shot three times at Lewis, sticking him three times.
Lewis was transported to Norman Regional and then to OU Medical Center. Lewis had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest out of Cleveland County for Armed Robbery. The bond on the warrant was 100,000.00. Lewis is being held on the warrant. The OSBI will investigate the matter and submit the report to the district attorney’s office for consideration. The Noble Police Officer’s name will not be released unless charges are brought against him/her.
