With the busy holiday shopping, police are reminding residents to be mindful of doorstep thefts when ordering items online or expecting holiday gifts through the mail. Thieves have been known to travel neighborhoods looking for unattended packages.

Holiday Safety Tips:

1. Residents should consider having packages sent to offices instead of their homes.
2. Use tracking numbers to anticipate delivery dates, times, and the whereabouts of the package.
3. Schedule deliveries for a time when someone is expected to be home to receive them.
4. Ship items to a person/place where you know someone will be able to receive the package.
5. Set up text or email delivery notifications.
6. Designate a safe location for packages to be left outside and out of view.
7. Have a neighbor secure the package for you while you are not home.
8. Set up a signature requirement for receiving packages.
