Flood Warning until 09:30AM

At 453 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain had fallen across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. The heaviest of the rain was over, but there were stream rises on the Duck Creek and the Little Muskingum River, and other small streams. Duck Creek at Macksburg went just over bankfull overnight, and the Little Muskingum River at Bloomfield was right at bankfull. Road closures and restrictions continued in the warned area due to high water, including along the Duck Creek. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Mcarthur, Albany, Lake Hope State Park, Chauncey, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Trimble, Zaleski, Amesville, Creola, Stroud Run State Park and The Plains.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely. You may also report flooding by posting your report to the Charleston West Virginia National Weather Service Facebook Page, or by using the Twitter Hashtag, NWSRLX.
