Flood Warning until 04:00AM Tuesday
Potomac River at Harpers Ferry affecting Washington and Jefferson Counties Heavy rain from Saturday is driving a crest of water moving down the Potomac. The National Weather Service in Sterling Va has issued a
* Flood Warning for The Potomac River at Harpers Ferry.
* From this evening until late Monday night.
* At 2 AM Sunday the stage was 6.4 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this evening and crest near 19.6 feet by tomorrow morning. The river will fall below flood stage by late tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 19.5 feet...Floodwaters begin to cover the old federal armory site at historic Harpers Ferry. Backwater from the Shenandoah covers most areas between the normal river channel and the elevated Winchester & Potomac Railroad tracks.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.3 feet on Sep 29 2018.
* AFFECTED AREAS: JEFFERSON, WV ... WASHINGTON, MD
