Flood Warning until 09:30AM Sunday

The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Athens County in southeastern Ohio... Northeastern Vinton County in southeastern Ohio...

* Until 930 AM EST Sunday.

* At 1227 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain was falling over the warned area. The heavy rain will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* There were stream rises on the Sunday and Raccoon Creeks, and other small streams, and these streams may come out of their banks overnight. There were some road closures and restrictions in the warned area due to high water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Mcarthur, Albany, Lake Hope State Park, Chauncey, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Trimble, Zaleski, Amesville, Creola, Stroud Run State Park and The Plains. Additional rainfall amounts of one half inch to an inch are possible in the warned area, as the rain continues through the overnight.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Heed high water and road closure signs. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Please report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely. You may also report flooding by posting your report to the Charleston West Virginia National Weather Service Facebook Page, or by using the Twitter Hashtag, NWSRLX.
