Wanted for Using Counterfeit Currency
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who attempted to use counterfeit currency at a Nesconset business last month.
A man attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase cigarettes at Handy Pantry, located at 279 Smithtown Blvd., on November 15 at 12:15 p.m. Employees informed the man the bill was fake and he fled in a 1996 to 1999 green Jeep Cherokee with an aftermarket metal rack affixed to the rear trailer hitch.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
