Advisory

Update: Police Activity Yesterday (12/12 -Wednesday) Near View School

Yesterday (Wednesday 12/12/18), the Manhattan Beach Police Department responded to a reported kidnapping in their city. Manhattan Beach officers located the suspect vehicle and performed a traffic stop in the City of Hermosa Beach near View School. Hermosa Beach Officers responded to assist. As expected, the officers believing they were dealing with a kidnap suspect who may or may not be armed, initiated a high-risk traffic stop. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the occupants of the vehicle were arguing only, no crime occurred.

We are pleased that the incident turned out not to be a kidnapping and the occupants of the vehicle were not armed.

By all accounts, officers handled this stressful situation using appropriate tactics and procedures. HBPD works closely with the MBPD and is grateful we continue to have a tremendous working relationship.
