Assailant and Victim Hospitalized After Domestic Violence Assault
Maple Shade, NJ

     The Maple Shade Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office are jointly investigating a Domestic Violence Assault that resulted in both the victim and the accused being transported to the Cooper Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.
 
     At approx. 6:30AM on December 12, 2018, the Maple Shade Police Department responded to the 100 block of Great Road in the Roberts Mills Apartment complex in Maple Shade for a report of a Domestic Violence assault with a knife involved. Upon arrival, the Maple Shade Police Department quickly deployed in the area and located the accused, BROOKS J. NELSON, 24, of the 100 block of Great Road.
 
     NELSON and the victim (name withheld) were both transported to Cooper Hospital for treatment. Additionally, at least four bystanders that assisted the victim were bitten by the victim’s dog, and required minor medical treatment.
 
     NELSON is currently under Police custody at Cooper Hospital with criminal charges pending.
 
     The quick and professional response of the Maple Shade Police Department, surrounding mutual aid Police Departments, and EMS First Responders provided for a quick resolution to restoring safety and order to the community.
