Duarte Crime Blotter for crimes reported for the week of 12-02-18 thru 12-08-18

Dear Duarte Community;

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of 12-02-18 thru 12-08-18
 
December 02, 2018

  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart). A sixteen year old female was detained after security observed her stealing approximately $177 in store merchandise.  After further investigation by responding deputies, the female admitted to stealing the merchandise and was arrested for Petty Theft.

  • No significant activity.
 
December 04, 2018
  • A Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 2600 block of San Pablo Way. Between 1:00 am on 12-03-18 and 7:00 am on 12-04-18, a 2000 Honda Civic was stolen from the street.  The vehicle was recovered on 12-06-18 in the city of Baldwin Park.  
  • Deputies responded to the 2000 block of Mountain Avenue regarding a call of someone screaming inside a house.  Upon their arrival, they noticed the house was vacant.  As they approached the house, they heard someone screaming and pounding on the walls.  Upon making entry, they immediately smelled a strong chemical odor coming from one of the rooms, and detained an adult male who was hiding inside the closet.  During their investigation, the male displayed symptoms of a person under the influence of PCP.  After conducting several field sobriety tests, the male was arrested for being under the influence of PCP.     
 
December 05, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart). A scanner used to scan merchandise, was stolen after an employee left it unattended for approximately five minutes. The loss was estimated at $275.   
  • Deputies responded to the Carl’s Jr. at 1305 Huntington Drive regarding a disturbance call.  Upon their arrival, they detained an adult male who was creating a disturbance inside and was refusing to leave.  During the investigation, it was revealed the male was on active probation for possession of illegal narcotics.  After further investigation, the male was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia and arrested.     
   
December 06, 2018
  • A Vandalism/Graffiti was reported at 1088 Hamilton Road. Person’s unknown spray painted the words “SINS, WULF, TANK, BEEZLE AND GHOST” in blue paint on a city wall.  The damage was estimated to cost approximately $1,000 to remove. 
  • A Vandalism/Graffiti was reported at 2455 Huntington Drive. Person’s unknown spray painted the center median concrete with the letters “DKOI.”  The damage was estimated to cost approximately $300 to remove.   
 
December 07, 2018
  • A Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 1100 block of Huntington Drive. Between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, a 2002 Chevy Silverado was stolen from a parking lot.  The vehicle was recovered on 12-09-18 in the city of Baldwin Park.  
 
December 08, 2018
  • An Assault with a deadly Weapon was reported in the 900 block of Lewiston Street.  An adult male assaulted an adult female family member with a glass bowl.  The victim suffered a laceration to her head.  The suspect fled the scene on foot and is still outstanding.  The investigation is on-going.
