The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

November 21st
2324 Hours: Officer D. Johnson responded to the 5600 block of Mowry Avenue and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window which resulted in an unknown loss.


November 22nd
0915 Hours: Officer Hernandez responded to the 39000 block of Cedar Blvd. and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window which resulted in an unknown loss.

2026 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 21-year-old male out of Sacramento for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Fremont Jail.


November 23rd
0221 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 20-year-old male out of San Jose for DUI. He was later cited and released.

0312 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 47-year-old male out of Redwood City for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

0647 Hours: Officer Riddles contacted a 24-year-old male out of Fremont and arrested the male for possession of burglary tools and violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1241 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 28-year-old transient female for an outstanding arrest warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1342 Hours: Officer Hernandez contacted a 35-year-old male out of Newark and arrested the male for violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1515 Hours: Officer Allum responded to the 2000 block of Newpark Mall Rd. and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspects gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window to steal a Gucci backpack. The suspects were seen fleeing in what was described as a gray Infiniti sedan.


November 24th
0343 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 26-year-old female out of Vallejo for DUI. She was booked into Fremont Jail.

0829 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 42-year-old female out of Dixon for outstanding arrest warrants. She was booked into Fremont Jail.

1104 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a reported battery and arrested a 46-year-old male out of Newark for domestic battery. He was booked into Fremont Jail.


November 25th
0043 Hours: Officers investigated a theft from a business in the 5800 block of Stevenson Boulevard.

1836 Hours: While patrolling the 5600 block of Mowry Avenue, Officers intercept what is determined to be a stolen vehicle related to three recent auto burglaries. The vehicle and suspects fled into an industrial area where the stolen vehicle and property from the auto burglaries were ultimately recovered. The Investigation is ongoing.


November 26th
0735 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a theft of an air conditioning unit that had occurred at a construction site sometime between Nov 21st and Nov 26th.

0758 Hours: Officer Rivas responded to the 5700 block of Thornton Ave. to investigate a disturbance and arrested a 26-year-old transient male for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

0904 Hours: Officer Taylor contacted and arrested a 44-year-old male out of East Palo Alto for a Misdemeanor Vehicle Code violation. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1145 Hours: Officers responded to the area of Newark Blvd. and Dairy Ave. for a report of two male subjects looking into vehicles. Officer Taylor conducted a probation search and arrested a 36-year-old male out of Newark for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. A second male, 26-years-old out of San Lorenzo, was arrested for possession of burglary tools. They were cited and released.

2340 Hours: Officers investigated a disturbance and ultimately arrested a 26-year-old male out of Fremont and a 53-year-old male out of Fremont for being too inebriated to care for themselves or others. They were booked into Fremont Jail.


November 27th
1912 Hours: Officer Quinones responded to the 36000 block of Bishop Street and investigated a theft from a vehicle during which suspect(s) siphoned gas sometime overnight.


November 28th
0507 Hours: Officers investigated a theft from a business in the 5600 block of Thornton Ave.

1042 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 56-year-old male out of Newark for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1819 Hours: Officer Hernandez responded to the 6000 block of Graham Ave. and investigated the theft of a package from a front porch that had occurred approximately three hours earlier. The suspect was described as an African American Male Adult, 20 to 30 years old, wearing a gray hoodie, dark colored, ripped pants and a yellow security vest.

1932 Hours: Officer Swadener’s attention is drawn by a vehicle leaving a commercial parking lot in the 5600 block of Thornton Ave. at a high speed. He stops the vehicle. Investigation reveals the male occupant had just vandalized property within one of the businesses, but the business declined prosecution for the Misdemeanor Vandalism.

2109 and 2134 Hours: Officer Quinonez responded to the 35000 block of Newark Blvd. and investigated two separate burglaries from vehicles during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicles by shattering windows to steal Tommy Hilfiger jackets, an iPhone 8 Plus, a laptop and an iPad Mini.

2358 Hours: Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a 28-year-old male out of Modesto for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was cited and released.


November 29th
0305 Hours: Officers investigated a disturbance and Officer Hernandez ultimately arrested a 49-year-old male out of Newark for DUI. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1101 Hours: Officer Riddles investigated a reported disturbance and arrested a 59-year-old male out of Fremont for violating a restraining order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1302 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 58-year-old transient male for his outstanding arrest warrants. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1845 Hours: Officer Slavazza responded to the 35000 block of Dumbarton Court, and investigated a vehicle theft. Between 1050 and 1845 hours, unknown suspect(s) stole a silver 1997 Honda Civic.

2106 to 2318 Hours: Officers investigated separate burglaries from vehicles during which suspect(s) gained access into the locked vehicles by shattering windows to steal laptops, tablets and backpacks.


November 30th
0840 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 47-year-old male out of Newark for possession of drug paraphernalia. During the same contact, Officer Rivera arrested a 46-year-old male out of Stockton for also possessing drug paraphernalia. They were cited and released.

1055 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 26-year-old transient male for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.


December 1st
1554 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to the 39000 block of Cedar Blvd. and investigated a theft of license plates.


December 3rd
1157 Hours: Officer Mapes responded to the 2000 block of Newpark Mall Rd. and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which suspects gained access into the locked vehicle by shattering a window to steal a backpack.

1441 Hours: Officer Taylor responded to the 37000 block of Back Bay Road and investigated a residential burglary.

2000 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a petty theft of cigarettes. The suspect fled in a black Honda Accord. The suspect was described as a White Male Adult, 25 to 30 years old, wearing a black jacket and light colored cap.

2029 Hours: Officer Swadener responded to the 35000 block of Dumbarton Court and investigated a burglary from a vehicle during which a suspect was confronted and fled in a black sedan. The suspect was described as a Hispanic Male Adult wearing a black hoodie.


December 4th
2257 Hours: Officer Geser investigated a theft from a business in the 35200 block of Newark Blvd.


December 5th
0510 Hours: Officers responded to the 34000 block of Newark Blvd. for a report of a male subject trying to open doors to vehicles. Officers located a male who was identified by the witness and ultimately arrested for prowling. The 29-year-old transient male was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

0731 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 68-year-old male out of Newark for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

0912 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 61-year-old male out of Newark for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released.

1002 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 48-year-old male out of Newark for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released.


December 6th
0830 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 43-year-old female out of Hayward for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was cited and released.

0957 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 34-year-old male out of Newark for his outstanding arrest warrant. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

1143 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 38-year-old transient male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools, violating the terms of his probation and resisting, delaying, obstructing officers. He was booked into Fremont Jail.
