Wanted Suspect / Weapons Offense

On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at approximately 5:44pm, members of the Asbury Park Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit executed an investigative stop on the 1400 block of Mattison Avenue.  The investigation involved four occupants inside of a motor vehicle.  The occupants were identified as Imirrah Bouie 20 year old female of Asbury Park, Nailah Hines 19 year old female of Neptune City, Cameren Cowart 20 year old male of Neptune and Aamir Morris 20 year old male of Brick.  During the course of the investigation Morris, while exiting the vehicle, retrieved and pointed a firearm at the officer nearest to him.  After a brief struggle, Morris was disarmed and the weapon was knocked to the ground.  Morris then took flight on foot and a foot pursuit ensued, however he was able to elude being taken into custody.

Complaints are signed on Aamir Morris for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Prohibited Weapons (body armor penetrating ammunition, large capacity magazine), Aggravated Assault (on the officer he aimed the weapon at) and Resisting Arrest.  The aforementioned remaining occupants were taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Prohibited Weapons (specific rounds, large capacity magazine).

The weapon is a Black Masterpiece Arms model M-11 9 millimeter pistol with a prohibited large capacity magazine.  Loaded within the magazine were 13 Luger hollow point rounds.  (Photograph attached)

Chief David Kelso said, “The officers involved in these arrests showed great bravery and professionalism removing these armed and dangerous persons from the streets of Asbury Park.  It is truly a great honor and privilege to work with officers of this quality. They displayed determination and courage and put their own lives at risk to ensure the safety of the residents of the City of Asbury Park and the surrounding community.”

Anyone who is familiar with and may know the whereabouts of Aamir Morris is asked to contact the Asbury Park Police at (732)774-1300.  Morris is considered to be armed and dangerous.
