Abandoned Puppies UPDATED PRESSER 12.6.18

**UPDATE**

On December 6, 2018, officers from the CPD continued interviewing people in an attempt to answer some of the missing information and questions related to the abandoned puppies in Sather Park in Scanlon last night.

Officers learned that the animals had not been abandoned in the park. Instead, some juveniles had purchased or received the puppies and thought by telling a parent(s) they found the puppies would increase the chance of them keeping the animals. When they were unsuccessful, the information and availability of the dogs quickly spread via social media and electronic communications before the CPD was eventually notified.

All who were involved have been notified, and the dogs remain with the reporter of the incident who agreed to take possession of the animals before CPD’s involvement. Based on the information and statements obtained by the officers today, we do not believe the puppies were abandoned or left outside in the elements as previously mentioned.

We apologize for any inconvenience or unnecessary emotions this incident has caused with the original posting. Our goal at CPD is to be engaging and to share as much information with our community as possible, and we understand it is more important to be accurate than first.
