Police are investigating a property damage crash that caused power outages and road closures near 1663 W. Sherman.

Reference: Property Damage Accident

The Norton Shores Police Department is investigating a property damage crash that occurred today in front of the Great Lakes Fresh Market at 1663 W. Sherman. The crash occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m and is still under investigation.

Witnesses at the scene reported that a 2004 GMC Yukon black in color was traveling west bound on Sherman when it struck a power pole. The driver a 49 yr old male from Norton Shores was cited at the scene for driving too fast for the road conditions. Road closures are in place for cleanup and investigative purposes. The Norton Shores Fire Department, Muskegon County Hazardous Materials Team, Consumers Power, and Comcast are working to clean up the roadway and to restore power. It is expected that the roadway will remain closed for several more hours. An announcement will be sent on NIXLE when the roadway is re-opened.

The driver of the vehicle was not intoxicated and was not injured.
