Child Welfare
Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real
An officer responded to the 2000 block of El Camino Real on the report of an unattended 2-year old child buckled in a child safety seat and locked inside a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer found the child asleep in the car. Officers knocked on the window several times. The child was slow to wake, did not respond to the officers and could not unbuckle itself from the child safety seat or open the door. As a result, the officer broke the driver’s side window to gain access to the vehicle. The Santa Clara Fire Department responded to the scene to evaluate and treat the victim. Meanwhile, an announcement was made over the public address system in the neighboring business. The child’s mother returned to the vehicle as a result. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. The child’s father responded to the scene and took custody of the child.

Residential Burglary
Location: 3300 Block of Cabrillo Avenue
An officer responded to the 3300 block of Cabrillo Avenue on the report of a residential burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through an open kitchen window. The suspect(s) ransacked the victim’s bedroom. Among the items stolen was a loaded firearm and ammunition. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Brandishing
Location: 2000 Block of Scott Boulevard
Two male suspects entered a business on the 2100 block of Scott Boulevard. An employee approached the suspects to deny service based on previous issues with shoplifting. A verbal argument ensued, the handle of a handgun was brandished and the suspects fled the scene. Officers located and detained two suspects matching the reporting party’s description at a nearby business. The suspects were positively identified and determined to be juveniles. The firearm was located and determined to be a replica Glock BB-gun. The suspects were cited and released to their parents.

Hit and Run
Location: El Camino Real and The Alameda
An officer was dispatched to El Camino Real and The Alameda regarding a single vehicle collision. Upon arrival, the officer learned the suspect fled on foot from the scene. A search of the abandoned vehicle produced identification for the male suspect and drug paraphernalia. A Records check revealed the suspect did not have a driver’s license. Officers located the outstanding suspect while conducting an area check. He was arrested.

Fraud
Location: 100 Block of N Winchester Boulevard
An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of N Winchester Boulevard on the report of a female subject attempting to cash a counterfeit check with an out of state identification card. Prior to police arrival the subject left the business. As a result, several units canvassed the area for a subject matching the reporting party’s description without success.

Fatal Traffic Accident
Location: 700 Block of Kiely Boulevard
On Friday, November 30, 2018 at about 3:00 p.m., a fatal traffic accident occurred on the 700 block of Kiely Boulevard between Barcells Avenue and Steinhart Court. An 84-year old female pedestrian attempted to cross Kiely Boulevard outside the crosswalk when she was struck by a gray colored Dodge Charger traveling southbound. The pedestrian was a resident of Santa Clara.
The driver is only being identified as a 20-year old female resident of San Jose. She remained at the scene and is cooperative with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Traffic Investigator Nick Cusimano at (408) 615- 4764.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: 3800 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the 3800 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard for a vehicle without a rear license plate. Prior to coming to a stop, the vehicle ran over the landscaped island in the parking lot. Upon contact, the officer observed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication on the male suspect. A Records check revealed the suspect was driving on a suspended driver’s license for prior DUI arrests. The suspect did not satisfactorily perform the Field Sobriety Tests and the preliminary alcohol screening indicated a 0.225% and 0.234% blood alcohol content.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
