Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 12/01/2018 at 1955 hours his office was called to investigate a three car, personal injury, crash that occurred on Dailey Rd near Mathews St in La Grange Township, Cass County Michigan. 58 yr old, Elkhart resident, Katrina Schrimsher, stopped her PT Cruiser partially in the roadway on Dailey Rd, due to the vehicle having mechanical issues. A passerby, 31 yr old Alejandro Velasco, of Elkhart, stopped his Jeep Patriot in front of Schrimsher’s vehicle to assist her. A south bound Chevrolet Silverado driven by 19 year old, Bronson resident, Jacob Butters, struck the rear end of Schrimsher’s car. Schrimsher’s vehicle then got pushed forward into the Velasco’s Jeep, pushing the Jeep forward into Valasco. Velasco was struck by his own car, but had no injuries. Butters passenger, 19 yr old Tyler Martin, from Three Rivers, suffered minor injures and was transported to St. Joe Medical Center in Mishawaka. Schrimsher and her passenger, 77 yr old of Dowagiac Earline Fitzgerald, had minor injuries and were transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
