Subject follows students at Lynwood School this morning
On November 30th, 2018, we received a report about a man who was attempting to get the attention of three girls as they were walking to Lynwood Elementary School. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30am as they walked on Sunset Parkway near Leafwood Dr. toward their school. A man in a white pickup truck drove up next to them and said “hey” multiple times. The girls ignored the man and kept walking to school. Upon arriving at the school, the girls reported seeing the same man driving through the parking lot in front of the campus. The subject was described as a white male in his 50’s with long blonde or white hair driving, a white older model Ford truck.
Our School Resource Officers are actively investigating this incident. Lynwood School staff is aware and will be coordinating with officers in an effort to identify this subject. No similar reports have been received at this time.
The Novato Police Department works in partnership with the Novato Unified School District to do everything possible to ensure the safety of all students. We would like to remind parents to talk to their children about safe practices when walking or bicycling to school, including avoiding talking to strangers and being aware of their surroundings. The children in this case are commended for quickly reporting the incident to school staff. We encourage the community to report any suspicious incidents to the police and school staff. “See something, say something.”
