This morning around 1:30am deputies responded to the 5000 block of Park Rd. In Scio Township for a felonious assault that had just occurred. As deputies responded it was discovered that the male subject refused to come out of the home and was armed with a gun. Deputies were able to safely evacuate a mother and her 4 year old child from the home.

For over fourteen hours, deputies, crisis negotiators, Metro SWAT, and Michigan State Police spoke to the 41 year old Scio Township resident and worked with his family and friends in an attempt to get him the help he needed. Unfortunately, he took his own life a short time ago. There is still a large police presence on scene, but it is safe to return to your home.
