PAL Kajukenbo is Accepting New Members!
Join the PAL Kajukenbo Club to enhance your martial arts skills, track your progress with belts, and more under the guidance and support of a World Champion!
The Fairfield Police Activities League’s (PAL) Kajukenbo Club is accepting members for its new session. Train with former World Champion, Coach Anthony Marquez, and improve your flexibility, balance, self-control, strengthen, and more!
The PAL Kajukenbo meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30pm.
Kajukenbo is an American
hybrid martial art. The name Kajukenbo is a
portmanteau of the various arts from which its style is derived: KA for
Karate and
Tang Soo Do Korean Karate, JU for
Judo and
Jujutsu, KEN for
Kenpo and BO for
Western and
Chinese Boxing.
Coach Anthony Marquez leads the program. He has been the kickboxing and martial arts teacher for the PAL program since it opened in November of 2008. His successful teaching career in martial arts started in 1978, when he began teaching self-defense to women and children in Hawaii. In 1982, he won the Professional World Karate Association Full Contact Championship, which is a title he held until his retirement in 1989. Coach Anthony’s classes’ focus on building a strong mind, body and spirit connection. He promotes humility, respect for others, and most importantly, respect for oneself while teaching basic and advanced skills.
Kajukenbo builds more than martial arts and self-defense skills. Members:
- increase their flexibility, strength, and endurance
- develop patience, self-control, self-respect and discipline
- practice teamwork, make new friends, and strengthen connections with the PAL program
The Fairfield PAL program offers Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis teens a place to grow, learn, and build the skills they need today and in the future. The PAL Center offers teens a safe environment, supports working families and helps students achieve by giving them opportunities right now.
The Fairfield PAL Program is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis students enrolled in grades seven through twelve. Memberships are $10 per year and can be purchased at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Webster Street) Mon-Thursday between 11:30-5:30pm. A current student ID is required to register.
