With Christmas upon us more people are ordering online and having packages delivered to their homes. The criminal element takes advantage of this by taking packages that are left on porches unattended. Although Corcoran Police Department will have officers watching closely for those individuals we offer a few tips to help avoid thefts of packages.
•If the delivery service allows it, set a delivery time when you know someone will be home
•If your employer allows it, have deliveries made to your work
•Require a signature for delivery
•Have the delivery made to a friend or relative that you know will be home
•If you have surveillance cameras, be sure they are operative, maintained and properly positioned/focused
•Report all suspicious subjects, vehicles and activities to the police
