Icy roads contribute to two fatality collisions

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. (23NOV2018) – Two people died overnight night on icy Grant County roads.

[18GS14722] Near QUINCY: Around 8 p.m. Thursday, responders were called to Roads 5 and T-Northwest for a one vehicle collision. A 2004 Lexus RX330 driven by 39-year-old Carrie Bock of Wenatchee was west on Road 5 when she lost control on the icy road. The Lexus struck and slid down the top of the guardrail, rolled over and came to rest on its top in the irrigation canal.

A passenger, 73-year-old Karen L. Bock, died at the scene. Her body is in the care of Coroner Craig Morrison whose staff will conduct and autopsy.

Carrie Bock sustained serious injuries and was transported to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital. She was later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Two other passengers, 19-year-old Quynton Hamilton and a seven-year-old boy both from Wenatchee sustained non-life-threatening injuries and taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts, and excessive speed is the proximate cause for this collision.

[18GS14729] Near ROYAL CITY: A 31-year-old Royal City woman was killed early Friday in a one-vehicle rollover about five miles south of I-90.

Autumn Kynaston was driving a 1999 Lincoln Navigator south on Dodson Road when sometime around 12:30 a.m. she lost control on the icy road and the Lincoln rolled three-and-a-half times, coming to rest in a field.

Kynaston, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene. Her body is in the care of Coroner Craig Morrison whose staff will conduct and autopsy. Kynaston’s family has been notified.

Excessive speed and alcohol contributed to this collision.
