Jose Carrillo-Estupinan, 47, of Bluffton arrested today for Sexual Exploitation of Minor 2nd Degree

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office investigators received a lead from the South Carolina Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) initiative of child pornography being uploaded to the internet from computers and/or electronic devices at a residence on Haigler Boulevard in Bluffton. Further investigation substantiated the lead and revealed that the child pornography had been uploaded at 52 Haigler Boulevard. Based on the information, investigators obtained a warrant to search the Haigler Boulevard residence to locate and seize the computers and/or electronic devices used to upload the child pornography.

This morning, Sheriff's Office investigators served the search warrant at 52 Haigler Boulevard. The subject of the investigation, 47 year old Jose Carrillo-Estupinan, was present at the residence during the execution of the warrant. Located inside the residence and subsequently seized on the authority of the search warrant were numerous computers, mobile telephones and electronic storage devices.

Jose Carrillo-Estupinan was interviewed by Sheriff’s Office investigators and disclosed he was solely responsible for uploading the child pornography. As a result, he was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor 2rd Degree. Carrillo-Estupinan was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated without incident. In depth forensic examinations of the seized computers, mobile telephones and electronic storage devices will be performed by the South Carolina Attorney General's Office and could lead to additional criminal charges for Carrillo-Estupinan.

As of late this afternoon, Jose Carrillo-Estupinan remained incarcerated at the detention center and is scheduled to receive a bond hearing on the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor 2nd Degree charge tomorrow morning. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office will prosecute Carrillo-Estupinan in connection with this ICAC investigation.

We appreciate your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
