Update: 6:10 PM- Significant progress is being made on the gas leak. We anticipate allowing entry to the area within approximately 90 minutes. The power outage is limited to 95 homes and gas has been turned off to 15 residences. PG&E will be in contact with residents to turn gas back on. The roadway remains closed until the area re-opens in 90 minutes. Please continue to avoid the area to allow PG&E crews to resolve the issue. Thank you for your continued patience while we work through this issue.

 

Update: 4:59 PM- Novato Police and Novato Fire Department are actively working with PG&E to evacuate impacted residents and stop the leak. There are no further evacuations being ordered at this time. We expect that it will take between 2-4 hours to contain the leak. Power and Gas has been turned off to residences located near Somerset Place, Somerset Drive and Hampshire Way. We have not established any evacuation centers at this time. Please follow our social media sites for the most up to date information, We will provide updates as information becomes available.  

Update: 3:33 PM- Mandatory Evacuation of Somerset Drive, Somerset Place and Hampshire Way.

We are asking residents of Somerset Drive, Somerset Place and Hampshire Way to evacuate your residence and exit your street via the 7th Street Fire Road. This area is expected to be closed for at least 2-3 hours while crews work to contain the gas leak. PG&E and Novato Fire are at the site working to contain the leak. If you need assistance with evacuating your residence, please call 911. This evacuation is a precautionary measure due to the proximity of the homes to the leak. We will provide updates as available. The roadway of San Marin Drive from Redwood Blvd. to Simmons Lane remains closed. Novato Fire personnel will be staged at 1703 Grant Avenue to provide more information for evacuated residents.
