This collision occurred on Saturday, November 10th at approximately 11:46 PM on North McDowell Blvd., just north of Scott Street.  The victim, Charles Kauffman of Petaluma was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on North McDowell Blvd.  PPD Traffic Investigators were able to locate the suspect vehicle at an  address in Petaluma.  A search warrant was obtained to sieze and search the vehicle.  A 2005 Chevy Corvette was seized and it is currently being processed for evidence.  The driver of the vehicle, a Petaluma resident, has been cooperative and stated he did not realize that he had struck the victim.  Traffic Investigators have obtained surveillance videos from businesses in the area and are currently reviewing the videos while they investigate the collision.  We are still interviewing witnesses and following up on what the victim was doing prior to the collision and why he had stopped in the middle of the street and exited his vehicle,  leaving it running and the driver’s side car door open.  The results of Victim Kauffman’s autopsy is pending.  If anyone witnessed the collision or has information about this case, please contact Traffic Officer Mario Giomi at 707-778-4372.
