Sheriff Richard J. Behnke of the Cass County Sheriff's Office reports that on 11/16/2018 at approximately 1419 hours, his Deputies responded to a personal injury accident at Hoffman St east of Sodaman Rd in Newberg Township, Cass County, MI. Deputies arrived on scene and located both vehicles about 20ft off the road into the ditch south off Hoffman St. Initial investigation shows that the driver of the white Chevy pickup truck was heading west bound on Hoffman St when they hit a large area of slush sending them off the road rolling three times. Inside the white Chevy was the driver ( Kaylee Thieme, 18yr old Vandalia, MI resident), and the passenger ( Leslie Thieme, 72yr old Vandalia, MI resident). The driver of the Buick was driving west bound minutes after the Chevy went off the road, and struck the same area of slush sending her off the roadway south rolling once and landing next to the white Chevy. Both the driver and the passenger in the white Chevy were transported by Newberg Ambulance Service for their injuries to Three Rivers Hospital. The Driver of the Buick was checked by Ambulance personnel, and obtained no injuries. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in this crash. Seatbelts were worn during this accident.
