Advisory

Freeze Warning for Clayton County. SHERIFF VICTOR HILL

Summary: The Georgia Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, has issued a FREEZE WARNING for portions of north and central Georgia, including Clayton County beginning tonight at 11pm and expires at 8am tomorrow morning.

What has changed: Good news -- the heaviest rain has moved away from the area with drier (and colder) air quickly moving in from the north & west.  Some brief highlights...

  • Flash Flood Watch has expired -- any additional rainfall this morning will be less than 1/10 inch.
  • River/stream flooding will continue over the next several days
  • A Freezing Warning is in effect for tonight/early Friday for north and parts of central GA (see graphic). Temperatures will be in the upper 20’s to low 30’s.
    • NOTE:  Many roads will have time to dry out before temps drop below freezing overnight HOWEVER, there are likely numerous areas of standing water from all the rain which could lead to patchy BLACK ICE developing as early as after sunset this evening -- especially across north and west-central GA.
