Petaluma Police Detective

Receives Regional Award from

California Narcotic Officers Association

Detective Mike Page Competes for State Award

Petaluma, California – The Petaluma Police Department is proud to announce that Detective Mike Page has been selected by the California Narcotic Officers Association (CNOA) as the Narcotics Officer of the Year for Region 1 that covers most of the west coast of California.  Detective Mike Page, a sixteen-year  Petaluma police veteran, has been assigned to the US Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Santa Rosa Task Force for the past four years.

Prior to his assignment in the task force, he was recognized as an outstanding patrol officer and was best known for his self-initiated activity which resulted in significant narcotic arrests.  His visionary and proactive policing attitude brought further success to his career and the Department when he became a police canine handler.  He expanded the Department’s police service dog program with his canine partner “Rico” who was trained in handler protection, suspect apprehension, and narcotics detection.  Officer Page and “Rico” went on to become one of the most successful police service dog teams disrupting narcotics trafficking in northern California.   Their efforts with drug and criminal interdiction resulted in significant narcotics, currency from drug proceeds and weapon seizures with numerous associated arrests.

While “Rico” transitioned into retirement, Officer Page’s leadership, work ethic, and teamwork resulted in his selection as the sole police officer in Sonoma County to be assigned to the US DOJ DEA Santa Rosa Task Force as a DEA deputized Task Force Officer beginning in 2014.  Detective Page has lead and assisted with many important investigations in his four years as a Task Force Officer, leading to this regional recognition.

This past year he was the lead investigator for two major narcotic investigations involving violent drug trafficking organizations.  Detective Page became the first Task Force Officer in the DEA’s Santa Rosa Resident Office to surreptitiously monitor an operation involving associates of an organized drug cartel operating in northern California and across the United States.  Additionally this year, Detective Page was the lead investigator on an international narcotics investigation targeting a sophisticated transnational criminal organization.  The investigation, led by Detective Page, involved international violent motorcycle gang members, resulted in the identification and historic single seizure of 575 pounds of methamphetamine in Sonoma County, CA, and multiple international arrests in Australia, dismantling this international criminal syndicate.   The investigation also resulted in almost a million dollars of assets seized that were used in the operation.  This drug seizure would become the largest methamphetamine seizure in Sonoma County history.  Detective Page, supported by many other law enforcement officers, worked tirelessly to stop the flow of narcotics into our community and arrest those that were responsible.  His efforts in the task force have resulted in millions of dollars of asset seizure for the City that helped purchase vehicles and emergency safety equipment for our officers.

Detective Page was recently selected as the 2017 Sonoma County Police Officer of the Year and will receive this new regional award at an upcoming CNOA annual training conference in San Diego.  Detective Page will be competing for the statewide award against other narcotics officers from eight other regions in California.

Please join me in thanking and congratulating Detective Mike Page for his selfless service to the Petaluma community, our law enforcement profession, and the continued fight against illegal drugs and the associated violent criminals targeting our communities.  We all wish you luck in your bid for the statewide award.
