INCIDENT: Report of Person with a Gun on School Campus

LOCATION: Silverado High School, 14048 Cobalt Road, Victorville

SUSPECT: 17-year old male, Silverado High School student

UPDATE: Through their investigation, deputies determined a 17-year old student at the school was responsible for making the false report of a person on campus with a firearm. The student was arrested and booked at High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for false report of an emergency.


SUMMARY: On November 14, 2018, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to Silverado High School after receiving a report of a person with a gun on campus.

School officials enacted a lockdown at both Silverado High School and Cobalt Institute of Math and Science as deputies conducted a sweep of the Silverado campus. It was determined no legitimate threat existed. The cell phone used to make the initial report was located and determined to belong to a student. It appears the report was made as a prank and another student may have been involved.

The lockdown at both schools was lifted and classes resumed as normal. A thorough investigation is being conducted.
