Injury Collision Leads to Felony DUI Arrest

On November 13, 2018 at approximately 1237 AM, a call came into the Simi Valley Police Dept. communications center. The caller stated that a vehicle had collided into a tree in the area of Alamo St. and Wanda Ave. The caller added that the driver was bleeding. Once SVPD units arrived it was learned that two people were in the vehicle. The driver, Dylan Smallis 18yrs. of Simi Valley had significant injuries to his head and face, but was responsive. He also showed signs of alcohol intoxication. The 18 yr. old passenger was unconscious. The vehicle Smallis was driving was a 1963 Chevy Bel Air and was not equipped with seatbelts. Both occupants were transported to Las Robles Hospital to care for their injuries. A DUI investigation was conducted and concluded that Smallis was driving while under the influence of alcohol and was involved in a traffic collision which resulted in the passenger being injured. This constitutes Felony DUI and Smallis was placed under arrest. As of this writing, both Smallis and his passenger were still being cared for at Las Robles Hospital.
