Suspect(s): Javier Cab, 36-year-old Petaluma resident
Petaluma PD received a citizen report of a possible DUI driver who pulled into a fast food restaurant and parked. The citizen reported seeing the driver swerving “all over the road” and nearly being run off the road while traveling on Highway 101. The citizen followed the driver to the restaurant, where he was then seen drinking from an open container and exiting to urinate.
Officers arrived and contacted the driver, who was identified as Javier Cab. A DUI investigation was initiated, and he was eventually arrested for DUI. Open containers of alcohol were found in his vehicle. A record check revealed he did not have a valid license and had at least two prior arrests for DUI. A preliminary breath test revealed he was at least three times the legal limit of .08%. However, he refused an evidential chemical test, forcing officers to obtain a search warrant for his blood sample. He was eventually booked into the Sonoma County Jail for DUI.
