Felony OWI 4th Offense
On Friday, November 9, 2018, at approximately 8:14pm a Middleton police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had two defective brake lights and was weaving back and forth within its traffic lane.
The driver was identified as Daniel Bakken, 51, of Middleton. Upon making contact with Bakken, the officer noted slurred speech, red glassy eyes, and a strong odor of intoxicants. Bakken admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages.
Bakken was put through field sobriety testing and subsequently arrested for 4th offense Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated (OWI), a felony. He refused to provide a breath sample, so a warrant was obtained for an evidentiary sample of his blood. Those results are pending.
Bakken was transported to the Dane County Jail where he was booked on the tentative charge of 4th offense OWI.
