On the evening of November 1, 2018, the Riverdale Police Department responded to a Person Shot call at 296 Roy Huie Road, Riverdale, Georgia 30274. Upon their arrival, officers found Edward Hicks (26) on the side of the building with multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Hicks was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Riverdale Police Investigators responded to the scene and began to interview witnesses and review area video surveillance. Investigators later learned that Mr. Hicks along with his neighbor, Deante Antoine George (33) got into a verbal argument, which escalated to Mr. George shooting Mr. Hicks multiple times. Mr.  George was encouraged to turn himself in for other outstanding warrants and did so on November 8, 2018. Mr. George was transported to Clayton County Sheriff’s Office where arrest warrants were obtained for Mr. George on the following charges: Malice Murder, Felony Murder.
