***UPDATE*** Union City Police investigate a stabbing incident near the 2200 Block of Partridge Way.

**Update to Attempted Murder Investigation**

On November 5th at 0839 hours, a male assailant approached a female victim in her carport as she was getting into her vehicle to leave for work.  The assailant, later identified through investigation as 22 year old Filipino Male Chad Parker of Union City, told the victim that he believed that his mail might have been mixed with her mail and asked if they could check.  Parker and the victim live close to each other, and itt is unknown if Parker used this excuse as a ploy.

The victim stated no, that she was on her way to work, and they could check later.  The victim entered the driver’s side of her vehicle at which time Parker attacked her.  Parker stabbed and sliced the victim numerous times.  Parker pulled her out of her vehicle and began kicking her.  Parker then walked away only to come back to resume kicking her in the head and stabbing her in the chest.

Parker then walked home and attempted to destroy evidence related to the case.  The motive for this violent attack is believed to be robbery.  When the robbery went awry, it is believed that Parker attempted to kill the victim in order to protect his identity.

During the violent encounter, the victim sustained life threatening injuries.  At this time, she remains at Eden hospital in critical but stable condition.  The victim fiercely fought against her attacker by warding off knife strikes, and multiple kicks, all while attempting to bring attention to her attack by honking her vehicle horn.  The victim’s will to survive is commendable.

Chad Parker was booked at Santa Rita Jail on charges of attempted robbery, attempted murder, and aggravated mayhem.

Detectives are actively working this attempted murder investigation and are seeking assistance from the community.  If you have any information about this incident, we encourage you to call the Union City Police Tips Line at 510-675-5207 or email at [email protected].
