Major Traffic Collision

On Monday, November 5, 2018, at approximately 7:25 AM, Torrance Police Motors Officers responded to the area of 190th Street and Beryl Street regarding a major traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a white 2017 Honda Accord was travelling westbound 190th Street.  Upon approaching the intersection, the Honda Accord began making a left turn onto southbound Beryl Street before colliding with a motorcycle that was travelling the opposite direction, eastbound 190th Street.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old male resident of Redondo Beach, was treated by Redondo Beach Fire Department personnel at the scene, and later transported to a local hospital with major injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord, a 27-year-old male resident of Los Angeles, was not injured; however, his passenger, a 22-year-old female resident of Gardena, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.  Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Eastbound and westbound lanes of 190th Street were temporarily closed for approximately 2 ½ hours during the investigation.

This investigation is being conducted under the command of Torrance Police Captain Mark Underwood of the Special Operations Bureau.  Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Torrance Police Department at (310) 328-3456 (DR# 180053058).
